A new year is upon us. The Earth has completed one revolution of the sun and raises lot of questions for us all. Yes, the new year gives us a clean slate and a chance to push in new directions. Where will your 2025 take you?
I don’t have resolutions per se, but I do have goals that I’ve set for myself. They’re simple ones.
—Spend some time each day in thought, laughter, and tears.
—Eat healthier. Exercise daily. Go for a daily walk. Get in my damn 10,000 steps! (Can you tell I’m a little sensitive on that one.)
—Find improved balance at work and home.
—Like a firefighter who walks toward danger, walk toward the things that challenge me. All the while, keeping a growth mindset, a willingness to try new things, and an affirming outlook.
—Say thank you.
—Journal each day no matter what the day brings.
—Be true to who I am.
—Write. Write. And write.
“Remember, as long as you are breathing, it’s never too late to start a new beginning.” —Unknown
“Start wherever you are and start small.” —Rita Bailey
“The beginning is the most important part of the work.” —Plato
“Ring out the false, ring in the true.” —Alfred Lord Tennyson;

My dad used to have lots of funny sayings about goals. How they didn’t mean anything without concrete plans and action. Ugh. Now comes the hard part. Ha, ha.

Happy New Year, Brian! Thank you for your honest, open messages throughout the year that are always focused on the realities of our lives.
I love your list of goals. I’m giving my full attention this year to diet, exercise, and those pesky 10,000 steps that I so rarely manage to complete.
Wishing you the very best in 2025!

Thank you Georgia! I try to be open and honest in my posts. Sometimes more so than others. Those 10,000 steps are hard. I mean well. I start off the day strong, but I’m trying to make sure this year that I keep up with it. I’m good one day into the year. That’s something, right? Ha, ha. Hope you have a wonderful 2025 too.

No resolutions for me either, but goals are a good thing. Yours seem reasonable and attainable. Go get ’em!

A nicer way of me saying my goal for 2025 is to do fun stuff and spend less time in lines (doesn’t matter if it’s grocery, DMV, convenience store, just any of them.) Ha, ha.

Happy new year, Brian! These are great goals. Your note about 10,000 steps made me smile, because during Covid I took walks on most days. And I paid attention to my number of steps. And I got frustrated because EVERY morning the number restarts to zero. It didn’t seem fair or right or just. So I stopped paying attention to the number of steps and just walked 🙂

Smart advice. It;s less about the number and more about getting out there and doing it!!!!

A wonderful list! Especially the walking towards danger one. Makes you think.
I hear ya about the exercise and walking. That has become more of a priority now.
Happy New Year! 🥳

Walking toward danger. Makes me sound like a man of mystery, instead of the person who runs right away at the first sight of trouble. Ha, ha.
