We celebrate Thanksgiving in a few days. It’s a time for families and friends to come together. Like any gathering, there will be some happiness and maybe even some stress and tension. Who’s going to be late to the dinner table? Who let the refrigerator door open? Who brings up politics over the dinner table? Why is that friend of a friend asking about when you’re getting married and having kids?
But it’s also a time to remember all the things that we’re grateful for in our lives. Yes, my wife and I have had our share of ups and downs, but we’ve also been incredibly blessed. We’ll be minus a few members this years at the dinner table for a variety of reasons, but I’m thankful for my family and the chance to come together. What are you grateful for?
Here’s an early Happy Thanksgiving wish! Enjoy the day and the season.

We don’t have Thanksgiving here in the UK. It’s a shame, really, as it’s a wonderful holiday to come together and share gratitude. It’s a bit like Christmas, although the emphasis then is more on giving and receiving as opposed to simple and much-needed appreciation. I think when you get to our age (assuming we are of a similar age), there are always people missing each year; perhaps, through death, family disagreements, other family arrangements and many other practical reasons. I used to keep a gratitude diary. It was the first thing I did every morning. It gave a more positive start to my day – I should start this habit again. Tomorrow is as good a day as any.
I do hope you and your family have a brilliant Thanksgiving Holiday, Brian, and enjoy whatever company you have that day. I had to google the date for it as I didn’t have a clue. 🎉🎊😊

Yes, you hit on many of the reasons why thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Unlike any other US holiday. I’ll write more this week, but yes, I’ll be spending it with family. Than you!

It’s always worthwhile to take the time to stop and reflect on what we have to be thankful for. Happy American Thanksgiving this Thursday, Brian.

I love Thanksgiving because the focus is on love, gratitude, family, friends, and relaxation into the joy of BEING rather than the frantic Christmas craziness and the pressure of DOING. Thanksgiving is definitely my favorite holiday—except maybe for the Fourth of July when the only requirement is to relax, eat hot dogs, drink beer, and watch fireworks. Hear hear!

Love this Julia. You are so right. Love just “being” with the family. Thanks for putting it into words.
