The Big Three: Parking Lot Fun

The world can be a crazy place. Sometimes it helps to step back and list a few of the things you’re grateful for. I’m making it a habit each week to list three blessings. Here’s what I’m grateful for this week, July 20 – 26.

—A whole new perspective. The great thing about getting a creative spark is you never know where it will come from. Last week, one of my walks took me on the grounds of my local high school. I came across the student parking lot where the seniors from the past year had painted their spaces. I think it was for a fundraiser. The images were as varied and different as you might expect. And just as creative. The spaces filled up all three grateful spots and my smiling block for the week. See what you think. First up, who doesn’t love a bright flower or two or three.

—Fun at the arcade. I grew up on video games. I was a master of Pong and Galaxy Wars. And then later of course, there were Atari, Sega, Playstation game stations. We all had our favorite games. Of course, everyone loved Pac Man. Waka, waka, eat on Pac Man.

—E.T. Phone Home. And then file this one under, who knew? Yes, yes, who knew that E.T. took a cow home with him. Now that’s utterly out of this world! It made me appreciate my life. Heck, if E.T. can pick up the milk before heading home, then I guess I can too.

Finally, the last parking space gave me the biggest smile of all. Yes, Hello Sunshine. We all need a little sunny reminder. There’s always rainbow around the next curve in the road.

  1. There have been some competitions in my area for chalk art. Most of them bring a smile or two. Some have a statement to make. Others encourage and many are real art treasures. Too bad when it rains.

  2. Community art brightens up the spaces and I love that it is seniors who created these art at your local high school. Hello sunshine, indeed! 😊🌞
