We’re hitting a milestone today. You won’t find it mentioned on the news or on any website. You won’t find any other bloggers writing about it either. The milestone: The end of February and winter soon saying goodbye!

Oh, yes, a big milestone. We don’t have long now until daffodils, tulips, and other spring flowers start to emerge from their winter’s rest. Heck temperatures in New York City today are expected to hit the 50s, Washington D.C. as high as 60.
Oh, the damn groundhog — the same furry rodent that likes to try his hand at being a weatherman — would have me remind you that Spring in the Northern Hemisphere doesn’t formally come until March 20.
I say phoeey to that! (Yes, I could probably say a few other things, but I’m trying to keep this a clean blog!) We’re almost there. We can almost see around the bend. We’re almost to the top of the mountain.
Spring and then Summer will be here in no time. I can almost taste it. Who’s with me? And what are you most looking forward to come Spring Time?

“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer.” —Albert Camus
“What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.” —John Steinbeck
“Wisdom comes with winters.” —Oscar Wilde
“He who marvels at the beauty of the world in summer will find equal cause for wonder and admiration in winter.” —John Burroughs
“Winter is on my head, but eternal spring is in my heart.” —Victor Hugo
“Your time has come, now hasten little snowflakes. To vanish quite away; The spring-tide hours are sounding gentle warnings, forbidding you to stay.”
—M.E. Hathaway
“The promise of spring’s arrival is enough to get anyone through the bitter winter!”
—Jen Selinsky

I’m not sure about New England, but I’m definitely ready for Spring! It can’t come fast enough. Ha, ha. It’s tempting us this week with warmer temps. Wish they would stay.

I’d never heard the Oscar Wilde quote. “Wisdom comes with winters.” Hmm…Maybe you should follow that with “Sanity arrives in spring” (she suggested hopefully!). And thanks for the “keeping it clean” reference and the use of the word ‘phooey’. I love that! 🥰😜🥰

Oh, I need to edit my post now. I need to add your quote!!!! “Sanity arrives in Spring.” Sounds like a winner to me!!!!

Here’s another Stephen King quote for you. “Remember, Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.”

Wowza…that’s a gem! And brand-new to me. I love Stephen King. Thanks, Brian! 🥰

I only know it because it’s used in the movie Shawshenk Redemption which is from one of King’s novellas. It’s a line that Tim Robbins says to Morgan Freeman. 🙂

Ohhhh! What a movie. Have you seen Tim Robbins in “The Silo”? Bad guy! 😜

You and me both Beth. I try to not jump ahead in the seasons. There’s nothing we can do and they’ll get here when they get here. But this year, I’m ready. Need some warm weather to lighten the mood. Ha, ha.

They’re either really wise quotes or full of hogwash. All I know is that . . . . I’m ready for spring. Ha, ha.

Well, here in New York right now they call it “first false spring”…mid-50’s today, but down to high 30’s in two days, then bounce back up for the “Second false spring” before it dips again…every day is an adventure!

Yes, the beauty of all four seasons in the same day. I’m very familiar with the experience. Do I dress for the arctic or a nice spring day? Oh, the choices. 🙂

I do so love late February. Days are longer. Starting to feel the hope of Spring. 🙏

Ab, I hope it’s starting to feel like spring where you are. I know that it’s not warming up everywhere . . . but I definitely need spring to be on the way. Looking forward to the changes of seasons. It might be wishful thinking on my part . . . but here’s hoping. Ha, ha.

Yes, Brian! Phooeeyy to the groundhog and BOOO to the mole that apparently decided to make his home under my snow. TEE HEE.
I’m so ready for Spring–to open windows, hear the birds, see everything BLOOM again. Yes, new chances, new growth!
Perfect post, my friend! Love the quotes!

Aww, thank you so much. I normally try to not get too far ahead of myself. There’s nothing I can do about the weather. But this year, I’m looking forward to spring more than any other year. Maybe I’m just tired of groundhogs/moles? Who knows. But I definitely want some warmer weather and . . . dare I say it, a little bit of sun. Ha, ha. Hang in there, spring will be here soon.

You’re welcome, Brian! Guess what? It’s 60 here now. The birds are singing–I’ll take these little “snaps” of Spring (knowing they can be “traps” this time of year, lol–but it’s the taste of a season change we KNOW is coming!). Each season teaches me so much!

Aww, thank you Trish! Thank you too for reading. Yes, yes, I’m so ready for spring and a little bit of sun. We’re getting close. Hopefully wherever you are . . . spring is not far behind!!!!

I’ve probably just jinxed us. The biggest snowstorm that I ever remember came in late March and dumped two feet of snow. I guarantee you that we now have that to look forward to. Ha, ha. Let’s hope not.

I prefer to be realistic because to wish otherwise is to bring disappointment! Up here, north of the 45th parallel, spring won’t spring until April!

Yes, yes, I let spring fever get to me Dale. You can’t blame me for trying . . . the damn groundhog and the constant gray skies made me do it. The temps today aren’t bad here in Pennsylvania. However, I need to remember that the worst storm that I ever saw came in late March and dumped two feet of snow. Spring will come when it’s good and ready and not a day sooner. Ha, ha.

I won’t even consider feverish spring until mid-end-March. And yeah, the constant grey skies are a killer. So glad I got away for a week.
Same here, March ’71 we got a crazy dumping. Mind you, we matched our record from 1898 in getting 72.4 cm (28.5 in) in 4 days!
I think I shall buy myself some tulips… 😉

I love it, Brian! I feel it on my early morning walks – it’s still dark out but there is a lightness in the air and more bird song. Yes! Beautiful quotes!

That’s a good way of describing it Wynne. The early morning dark giving away to the morning sun and chirping birds. Thanks so much.

We came pretty close to 50° here this week, which melted all our snow (boo!). I know winter isn’t over yet…I’d be shocked if we didn’t get at least one more big snowfall…but I am looking forward to hanging out on the backyard deck again, firing up the grill and listening to music without freezing any body parts off.

The children found a few ants in the classroom, so I announced that means spring is on the way – even though we have plenty of ice and snow.
