Life has its share of fickle stops and starts and crazy twists and turns. In the 1969 movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, the main characters, played by Robert Redford and Paul Newman, are cornered on a high cliff.
There is no way out. The only choice is to jump. Redford as Sundance Kid worries what will happen when he lands. He’s embarrassed and finally admits that he can’t swim.
Paul Newman laughs at him. “Are you crazy?” Newman asks. “The fall will probably kill you!”
I’m struck how some days — that’s just how it goes. You just need to jump! Here’s to soft landings.

The cliff jump scene is such an iconic scene! 💕 And you’re right, Brian, sometimes in life, we just have to jump regardless of what may happen. Here’s to soft landings, always!

Clearly I need to watch this film again! Love the goodness you’ve gleaned. Just as Ab said — cheers to soft landings. Yes! And good friends. 🥰

Brian, this is a prime example of brilliant UGC! As a review of a good movie, you could be a paid movie reviewer. I’m not much of a TV watcher, but I love doing reviews – it’s among my favourite UGC assignments.
Robert Redford and Paul Newman – legends! On the odd occasion that I do watch a movie, I look for the classics. Good movies, like good music, are timeless.

Yes, I probably watch too many movies and bad TV . . . but I do like to find the connections and lessons back to my writing and to life. Like many people, I start one place but end up in another. Ha, ha.

That’s quite alright. We’re all on our journeys. Leaning into the things that bring us joy invariably leads us to where we are meant to be. Just being unashamedly authentic absolutely matters. Even it means being a weirdo… #iRelate! 😄

It’s the start of the year . . . we all face a lot of decisions. Just my way of reminding myself to lean into risk and opportunities!!! Thank you. 😜😜😜😜

Yes, I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve watched it. One of the reasons I picked out that scene. Struck me.
