Election Day is coming this week. The off-year election includes gubernatorial and state legislative elections in a few states, as well as numerous citizen initiatives, mayoral races, local offices and school board races on the ballot.
While not as sensational as a presidential or congressional race, municipal elections often touch us in ways we never can imagine and, maybe even more, because they impact us at the local level. Magazine Editor George Jean Nathan put it more bluntly. He said, “Bad officials are elected by good citizens who do not vote.”
In short, we get what we deserve. If you can, get out and vote.

I do think local elections are more important and do affect us more than national ones.

Voting is a privilege not a right, so if you don’t vote, you can’t complain. 🙂
Great quotes, Brian!

Oh yes, I think of that every time I vote. I say oh it’s just a local election, how boring. And then, I remember and think “do I really want to throw away that privilege?” Heck no.
