Looking for the right words of encouragement

My son texted us that he had a tough week. He had four exams all in the same week and was worried how he had done. I searched for the right words. I wanted to encourage him. I wanted to let him know that we were proud of him and to cheer him up.

Of course, my wife had just the right words. Three simple words. She told him: we love you.

  1. Great words of wisdom. I try to send my granddaughter some image with an inspirational quote for each day. She is in her third year of college. I think we need to give our young people additional encouragement during those difficult times. Saying, “I love you,” is also good.

    1. Yes, a classic move on my part. I’m giving him a lecture. I’m missing all the signs. I’m telling some long-winded story about climbing Mount Everest. I’m mentioning all the movies I can think of from Rocky to Remember the Titans. And my son’s like, ya, ya. My wife comes up and says we love you. And it’s “Aww, mom, thank you, just what I need to hear.” Ugh. Thank God for my wife. Ha, ha.
