My son texted us that he had a tough week. He had four exams all in the same week and was worried how he had done. I searched for the right words. I wanted to encourage him. I wanted to let him know that we were proud of him and to cheer him up.
Of course, my wife had just the right words. Three simple words. She told him: we love you.

Yes, here’s a little secret Sadje, I often pick quotes for my Saturday post that I need to hear too. These all spoke to me. Love the idea of overcoming whatever life throws at us!

Oh yes, I agree, we gravitate towards words that speak to us.

Me, too — I love that you both select things that speak to you…and then we all benefit! Thank you! 😉

Thank you for sharing these, Brian. I can relate to overthinking words of encouragement. Your wife definitely has the right idea.

Oh, I never know what to say. Can think of words of encouragement and comebacks hours later … but not in the moment!!!🤣🤣🤣

Great words of wisdom. I try to send my granddaughter some image with an inspirational quote for each day. She is in her third year of college. I think we need to give our young people additional encouragement during those difficult times. Saying, “I love you,” is also good.

Oh, I agree with you, I married out of my league, much smarter and wiser than me. I freely admit that! Very fortunate. Thx EA!

Yes, he’ll find out this week. I’m sure he thinks he did worse than he really did.

I heard a song lyric that included “I’m always in your corner”, and immediately texted it to my daughter. Not afraid to borrow when it’s good!!

Your wife is awesome, y’all are a great team.
Send him some cookies or hearty food and that will do the trick too.

Yes, a classic move on my part. I’m giving him a lecture. I’m missing all the signs. I’m telling some long-winded story about climbing Mount Everest. I’m mentioning all the movies I can think of from Rocky to Remember the Titans. And my son’s like, ya, ya. My wife comes up and says we love you. And it’s “Aww, mom, thank you, just what I need to hear.” Ugh. Thank God for my wife. Ha, ha.
