I’ve been bracing myself. I’ve been preparing myself for some bad news. I’m not generally negative, but I had a feeling that a “no” was coming. I put an optimistic spin on things, but I couldn’t fight the negative feeling. It kept coming back to me in the middle of the night. On top of everything, I had to wait. And my patience is minimal on a good day.
So I filled the time getting myself ready for the worst.
I prepared myself for how I would handle bad news. I had Plan B, C, and D ready to implement. In case things went really south, I had Plans E, F, and G generally mapped out too. Yea, yea, I’m embarrassed to admit that I had Plans H, I, J, K and L too. Each plan was going need a few adjustments, but I wanted to be prepared to respond.
I was taking a page out of the Survivalist and Prepper’s Handbook. If the world was coming to an end, I wanted to know in advance on how I would move on.

Better safe than sorry!
It’s always good to be prepared, right?
I needed to be ready. I have people who count on me. But, yes, my plans were a tad excessive. (I’m sure you’re saying, “ya think Brian?”)
I’m at a loss though. I am shocked. Instead of so-so news or bad news or even disappointing news, I got good news. Really good news. Sometimes the things we least expect or don’t even dare let ourselves dream, end up happening.
In fact, when we get out of our way, we often get the good news. (Before we get too far, I need to say: I’m sure the man in charge had something to do with the good news, so I was quick to say a prayer of thank you!)

A soothing melody
The news was music to my ears.
I had the same feeling you get when the sun comes out after a series of dark, cloudy days, you have a full tank of gas in your car, and you turn on the radio (or Spotify) and an upbeat, fast tempo song comes roaring out of the speakers. For me, it’s turning on the radio and hearing Katrina and the Waves hit “Walking on Sunshine” or The Beatles “Here Comes The Sun.”
It instantly lifts me up.
“I get that feeling from a whole host of songs, including Pink’s “Raise Your Glass;” The Cranberries “Dreams;” Steve Winwood’s “Back in the High Life;” Walk the Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance;” Colbie Callet’s “Bubbly;” The American Authors “Best Day of My Life;” Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off;” and Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run.”
Oh, it’s a good day! A very good day!

I just finished a stoic book. There theory, dumbed down by me, is to.assume that what you want will not happen because then it’s easier to get in with it

Thank god you didn’t have a Plan M. That would have been a bridge too far.
I don’t know what your good news is, but just the fact that you got good news is good news. Congratulations on it!!
