My son’s eight-month old English Bulldog likes to rest on my lap. He’s built like a tank and appropriately named Panzer. He’ll plop his weight down like he’s just come inside after tending a 200 acre farm and let out a deep sigh. His eyes will be heavy and his little tongue will stick out his mouth. Within a few minutes he’ll be fast asleep, snoring louder than a middle-aged man after a long day of work.
Oh the poor little guy.

It’s a beautiful thing. I love it for many reasons:
–As his heart goes up and down to its own beat, you can see the joy and happiness exude from every pore in his body.
–He smells. It’s a puppy smell, but it’s still a good smell. It smells of play and love.
–The sunset and the temperature outside take a dip, but little Panzer wrapped into a ball on my lap keeps me warm. He’s like a little furnace blowing out warm air. No cover for me. I’m nice and toasty. What’s more — he clings to me, making me feel loved and appreciated.

When our dog Nittany passed over the rainbow bridge last year this time, my wife and I thought we were through with dogs. Not-so-fast, according to Panzer. He’s taught us that there’s still plenty of love in our cold hearts. Just take one look at him. I dare you to look into Panzer’s eyes and say “no.” It’s impossible to do.
Of course, Panzer has a challenging side too. Oh, I can do without his furry coat and the hair he leaves behind. And let’s just say he can be a stubborn sort. You gotta keep him busy. Left to his own devices, who knows what’s going to happen. But, I’ll take him. Unfortunately though, Panzer is off to college with our son. He’ll hopefully be back with us later this summer.
In the meantime, be good buddy, appreciate all the treats that come your way, and have a doggy blast!

panzer is a doll and glad he is filling your sweet doggy bucket for a little while at least

A doll might be stretching it. Ha, ha. I’m looking at where he took a few bites out of my wood banister. Ha, ha, but I can never stay mad at him for long. He’s got me suckered. I can’t say no to him.

He is a tank Mark. It was all fun and games when my son first brought him home. Now . . . good grief, it’s hard to pick him up now. Ha, ha.

Adorable little face! You should buy him a SnoreRx—it works great. Well, that’s what my wife says. 😀

Panzer!! What a cool and cute pup. Love that he spent some time with you all warming your hearts and laps — and getting a great dose of family time for Panzer. Nothing like puppy love!

Yes, it was one of the first things my son did this summer. He could never have a dog while he was in the Marines and wanted one. We really weren’t sure what to expect. Panzer was way different than any other dogs I’ve had. But he was great to have around. Yes, definitely love us some Panzer. Ha, ha.

It’s kind of strange. I can’t see us going out and getting another dog anytime soon. We like our freedom on the weekends to come and go as we please . . . but Panzer has definitely gotten us thinking about getting another. I suspect it will happen eventually.

I wondered about that. After we lost Sadie we thought long and hard about it…but we didn’t have a sweetie like Panzer tempting us. Too hard to resist! Such a face!

It’s our son’s fault. He first threatened to come home with a “surprise” dog for us. We got him off that. But the more he talked about it, the more he wanted one himself. Up until he left for school, we thought there might be the off-chance that he kept Panzer here. Ha, ha.

When our son transitioned from the Marines, he threatened to surprise us with Panzer. Ha ha. The surprise was on him. Ha ha. Love the two of them.

Sounds like you two are ready for a panzer unit of your own…or a version of it.

Maybe not one that sheds quite as much or as stubborn. Love Panzer, but he definitely has his stubborn side. Ha, ha. We’ll see. I’m not sure I’m ready full time but I realize that I’ve been missing a dog.

I get it. I love being tether free, till I wish I had a furry cuddle bunny AND a furry doorbell.

Panzer you need to meet my bulldog friend, Lou!
Such a fun breed and you hit it on the nail with both sides of this breed’s temperament. A granddog is a great compromise —about pet. Ownership. Like a grandchild, when they get a bit too annoying they can go home! 🐶
Enjoy
