The world can be a crazy place. Sometimes it helps to step back and list a few of the things you’re grateful for. I’m making it a habit each week to list three blessings. Here’s what I’m grateful for this week, November 2-8.
What I’m grateful for:
—Plain as day. The clarity that comes after a hard decision.

—Knowledge is power. Last spring, I went to my nephew’s college graduation. It was fun seeing him walk across the stage. It was neat closing my eyes and remembering the day I graduated. So much hard work. So much sweat. I remember feeling that I had climbed Mount Everest. My father once told me that I may lose my job and house. I may lose my money. But no one will ever be able to take away my education.
I still feel that way. Education is a gift. A tremendous, priceless gift.

—On the Yellow Brick Road. We’re each on a journey. Following our own path to success, happiness, and fulfillment. Every journey is different with its own challenges. No matter where you are . . . here’s some encouragement to keep on pressing forward. Victory is for the purposeful and determined.

What gave me a smile?
Science is an amazing thing.
On November 8, 1895 Wilhelm Roentgen discovered X-rays while experimenting with cathode rays in his laboratory in Bavaria. He noticed that a fluorescent screen glowed even when the cathode ray tube was covered with heavy black paper, leading him to realize that a new, mysterious type of ray was being emitted. He named these unknown rays “X-rays,” a term that stuck, and he was awarded the first Nobel Prize in Physics for this discovery in 1901

My parents gave me the same advice regarding education! And I’m glad to have listened!

Education is everything. If you’re not learning, you’re falling behind. Yes, I’m glad I listened too.

One of my friends tells me every day – we are all teachers – we are all students. I learn so much from your pieces. Thank you for sharing your gratitude. I’m grateful for the new knowledge! Happy Saturday!

Oh, thank you for the kind comment. My pieces. Learning stuff. No way. Ha, ha, but thank you anyway. My gratitude pieces have been an interesting experience. I started them on a whim. It’s been interesting seeing what I can come up with each week. Every time . . . I think I’m repeating myself or coming up empty, I find something new and at least interesting to me. 😎😎😎😎

See that’s it. You find something new and interesting. We all benefit from what you find and bring to us. These prompts are incredible to me because everyone has their own spin and interpretation. Some pieces are written in poems and others turn a prompt into a fictional piece. It’s all so interesting!!

Here’s to science, Brian! Not as praiseworthy as it was before the fake news folks targeted it.

Oh I’m sorry. Ha, ha. Just that science helps us every day of our lives. Science gives us the tools and knowledge to solve our problems. It drives advancements in medicine, technology, health, work. Scientific thinking is an amazing thing.

I took the shot on my daily walk. It’s on one of the local trails. Many of the trees have turned color, but there’s still more green than I would normally expect. One day soon all the leaves will just drop and winter will be here. Ha, ha.

Oh thank you so much. I appreciate the feedback. I came across the leaves on the ground and knew that I wanted to include a shot of them in my blog. I’m glad I took the shot. I stopped by the same trail today. They’re still there but definitely dampened down and far less leaves hanging on the trees. Winter is coming fast. Ugh. Ha ha. Thanks for stopping by my blog! 🤣🤣😎😎😎

It’s amazing to me how many scientific breakthroughs were accidental. Same goes with Reese’s peanut butter cups (at least according to their classic TV ads). Makes you wonder what else we’re missing out on!

Your yellow brick road photos are gorgeous, Brian. They remind me of this past weekend in wine country. The fall colors are popping and they’re stunning. Great post!

I love those shots too. Felt like I had entered another world. I went back today. The rain had definitely pushed a lot of the leaves onto the ground. Very wet. Winter coming soon.
