The world can be a crazy place. Sometimes it helps to step back and list a few of the things you’re grateful for. I’m making it a habit each week to list three blessings. Here’s what I’m grateful for this week, October 12-18.
What I’m grateful for:
—Hmm, two things that go together. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. With Halloween coming later this month, my mind has been on some of my favorite candies. Nothing like being a kid again.

—Calling home. Calls from your kids. There’s nothing else like it. The conversation could be deep or to the point, it doesn’t matter. I love when they call.

—Free time. I had five minutes this morning to clear my head. It wasn’t a big thing. I can’t say I came away noticeably calmer or at peace. I still had fifty million different things running through my head. The five minutes alone though did me a world of good. We all need time like that.

What gave me a smile?
Life can be hard. We have those moments that are tough. But sometimes all we need Is “20 Seconds Of insane courage.”

You just inspired me to take a photo of the morning sun casting onto my kitchen wall, all the way into my living room, where it rested on my dog Alice, who was relaxing on the couch. I’m feeling grateful – thank you, Brian.

Thanks Dwight. It can be challenging some weeks but lots to be grateful for. 🤣🤣😎😎😎

Peanut butter cups…yum. I’m learning to love my alternative version…made with applesauce and peanut butter powder but my family thinks I’ve lost my mind. Maybe so…but then there’s more for me! 😁

Sounds interesting. Not sure how it would taste. But I love your attitude. Take that family! Ha ha. 🤣🤣😎😎😎

Calls from the kids is the best. I don’t get a call for my daughter often but when I do we talk for 2 hours. It just makes my day. My son sends me detailed reports on all of his 4 kids and 2 grandkids about once a week.

We took our son in college out to lunch today. Three hours later we finally gave each other hugs and got up. Love it! 🤣🤣😎😎😎

All good – but I love the 5 minute reset. It makes such a difference to appreciate all the rest. Love this, Brian!

Five minutes. And everything else is brighter, crisper, cleaner, calmer … and easier. Funny how that works😊😊😎😎😎😎

You and I think so similarly, Brian. I really like peanut butter cups! And nothing lights me up like calls from the kids!
And, I’m using a little of my free time this morning to catch up a little on reading blogs. Glad I did! It wasn’t insane courage, but still…glad I did.
The part of that movie clip I really resonate with is when the dad tells the son “I like it when you talk”.

I like it when you talk. Such a cool line. Said by every father at one point or another in his life! Ha ha. 😎😎😎😎

Beautiful post, beautiful clip, beautiful comments. Thank you for sharing. Also, I did an insanely courageous thing yesterday, and I’m still feeling pretty good about it. I 100% approve of insane courage.

Awesome. That’s so cool. You should feel proud of. Anytime we step out of our comfort zones should be celebrated. Good for you. 😎😎😎

Calls from the kids resonate the most, Brian. And Reese’s are too good! Happy Sunday! 😊

We visited our youngest this weekend. Just what the doctor prescribed. The best.

I like the five minute reset too, Brian. There’s nothing like having the presence of mind you are losing your mind, and just slowing it all down to better process what all is going on “in there!” I am sure my mind appreciates the gesture…

How about a day long reset. Goodness, I need one of those. Ha, ha.

I carved a pumpkin with the grandchildren. Got a long text message, complete with pics of growing children, from family 3,000 miles away. And rode my bike through silence with a background of tree leaves radiating reds, yellows, and oranges. Great task, thanks.

That’s what I love about fall. Looking up and seeing red, yellow and orange all come together. Sounds like you had a great weekend.

Sign me up for a Kit Kat or Twix, please! And re: kids…I practically fall out of my chair whenever I get a text from one of them. I can’t imagine an actual phone call!
