The Big Three: Chasing Rainbows

The world can be a crazy place. Sometimes it helps to step back and list a few of the things you’re grateful for. I’m making it a habit each week to list three blessings. Here’s what I’m grateful for this week, September 7-13.

—Plain talk. People who talk in plain simple language and are considerate and empathetic towards others.

—The end of the rainbow. The rain came down in a rage the other day. I was in my car waiting for it to slow down. And then it went away. Just like that. The sun started to come out. I looked out my car window and a huge rainbow filled up the sky. Sometimes the rain comes and it’s ugly. But then things brighten. You have to be ready for it. My photo isn’t great. It’s hard to get great shots of a rainbow outside of a drugstore and telephone lines . . . but a rainbow is still a rainbow!

—A second chance. September means the start of school. Getting back into a routine. The final four months of the year. Summer temperatures giving away to colder fall ones. September is about new beginnings. New opportunities. And seeing what’s to come. A, B, or C, it’s a new beginning.

My daughter is a grown woman. My sons are grown too. But the 1997 song Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle still hits me everytime I hear it.

“But I’ll always remember
Every hug in the morning
And butterfly kisses.”

      1. Oh, now that would be a cool pic. Big Foot and a cool rainbow shot. Oh, I’m might have to venture back to that park and see if I can find the big guy again. With the rainbow in the pic, it would be hard for the news people to say no to me. Maybe if I get video evidence this time. Great idea Ab. Ha, ha.

  1. Things to be grateful for….a terrific way to take a moment and see the good – I am thankful that my won came up by train for the day and we are all taking a long walk through Central Park before having dinner downtown with friends…a gorgeous – and totally safe – day in New York

    1. Oh, that sounds like a great day. Beautiful weather today for it too, right? NYC in September and October has always been fun for us. November and December too, but especially in the fall before it gets really cold. Have a great day. So much to see and do in central park!

  2. Rainbow remind me of God’s promise to never destroy the world with an all encompassing rain event, but he sure gets our attention when big storms hit.

I’m so excited I almost forgot what I was going to say…haven’t heard this song in so long; thanks for the reminder! It’s a good one.

    1. Oh thank you for stopping by and commenting Kathy! I’m not even sure when my comments close … I hope it’s not too soon. Ha ha. I hadn’t heard butterfly kisses in a long time too. When I heard it, I knew I needed to add it to my list. It’s sappy and goes for the waterworks, but I still like it!!! 🎶🎶🎵😎😎😎
