A bone to pick

We all have little annoyances that bug us. Here’s nine that bug me.

  1. Rude uncaring people.
  2. A know-it-all. A show-off.
  3. In the U.S., people who only see Republican red or Democrat blue and put political party over country.
  1. My instinct to fret and worry over things that I don’t control. (Yea, I get annoyed with myself.)
  2. People who make broad generalities and rush to judgment.
  3. Wasting time needlessly.
  1. Cars, appliances, things that break down before their time. If something is supposed to last five years, then it should last five years, right?
  2. That people don’t bow down to my superior intellect and wisdom. (Insert sarcasm face here.)
  3. Small talk.

What are your pet peeves? What bugs you?

  1. Great post Brian. I am in agreement with you regarding your points 8 and 9. Showoffs really bug me, especially when they are bragging about things that they have done when someone else is telling a story. Let that person have their time to shine.

      1. You’re definitely not alone. I never say to the person but I always think it. If it’s with me that’s fair enough but if someone else is telling a story, I hate when a know it all interrupts them, almost as if they want to outshine their story. I don’t understand it 🤷🏼‍♂️🤣

  2. As the years of having pet peeves have caused me too many wrinkles, I’m satisfied with life as it is so far.
As long as I stay away from the news of the day.

  3. Well, it’s no surprise that I agree with you. I have a very specific pet peeve – when someone wants to talk with me and they are in another room and they yell instead of coming to where I am. 🙂

    1. Love your addition. Okay I have to admit a secret. This has to stay between us Wynne. When my kids do this I fake that I can’t hear them. They get annoyed but they get out of their seats and come talk to me face to face. Ha ha. 🤭🤭🤣🤣😎😎

  4. Our microwave just broke, which annoyed me at first…until I learned it’s 21 years old. Seems like a pretty good lifespan for that particular appliance.

I love that you have small talk on here. Agreed! Larry David hates the dreaded stop-and-chat too, and famously stated that his mission is to “elevate small talk to medium talk.” I swear, that guy’s my kindred spirit!

  5. I had to laugh at “small talk.” Sometimes that’s all I’m capable of saying. Of course, it depends on just how small you’re talking (is that a pun? If so, not intended).

    1. General small talk. How about the weather. How are you (but not really caring to listen to your answer.) Any weekend plans? Ugh. I love long deep conversations. Short meaningless ones, not so much. 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️😎😎🤭

  6. Small talk is something I find increasingly less time for as I get older and especially since the virtual work days after the pandemic. It’s anxiety inducing!

  7. Must agree with most of these and my list is loooong 😉

Let’s just say judgmental people; no acknowledment when you do something for another, people who speak loud on their cellphones in public areas and worse, have them on speaker phone…

  8. I agree with that entire list. Inconsiderateness is my biggest pet peeve. Are you the one with whom I discussed people who don’t fill the gap between cars at stop lights? Drives me bonkers.

Politics, in general, just frustrates me. I try to avoid it completely, if I can.

Pompous people are the worst. I have little patience for them. Next to that would be overly competitive people who are poor losers or winners. They’re no fun to play with at all.

Great pics amongst these too. Moody, but beautiful.

  9. Love this list. I will add leaving food in the sink drain. Ugh, it grosses me out, and just annoys me that people do not clean this up. Like, do you expect it to just disintegrate?

As you know I do love small talk, but I find it almost always goes somewhere big, so I do look forward to it 😉

  10. Toxic positivity, people who tell me they can fix my medical problems with crazy supplements 🙄, parents who don’t actually teach their kids to respect other people’s things. Oh my lord that makes me so mad.
