The world can be a crazy place. Sometimes it helps to step back and list a few of the things you’re grateful for. I’m making it a habit each week to list three blessings. Here’s what I’m grateful for this week, April 13 – 19.
What I’m grateful for:
—Getting the meaning of Easter. When our daughter was four or five and her brother about two, we took the both of them to our church Easter Egg Hunt. The eggs were filled with Hershey’s kisses and they were excited about collecting as many eggs as they could.
The woman running the egg hunt broke the kids into groups based on their ages. She blew into her whistle and the kids started running, picking up egg after egg. The egg hunt was over in no time.
My wife stayed with our son. I went to get our daughter. I found her in the middle of the field. She was trying to calm another little girl who had special needs. The girl was upset because she didn’t have many eggs. Without missing a beat, my daughter reached into her basket and gave the girl a large handful of her eggs. She told her to do the same.
When I told her I was proud of her for being helpful to others, she told me that she knew her brother might have a tough time finding eggs so he could have some of hers too. Yea, I’m grateful for moments like that.
—The eternal gift. Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose again on the third day victorious over death and offering hope for eternal life. Yes, Thank you Jesus.

—Chocolate bunnies. I’m not much of a Peeps fan, the colorful marshmallow candies that come in shapes like chicks and bunnies. I have a sweet tooth, but even I have my limits.
However, I am grateful for another Easter Candy. Yes, I love chocolate bunnies. My mother and my wife have stopped loving me years ago by stopping giving me an Easter Basket come Easter Morning. So, I’ve had to make do. I still love the bunnies. Who’s with me. Apparently, lots of you.
In the United States, it’s projected that consumers will spend approximately $2 billion on chocolate for Easter 2025. This equates to about 73 million pounds of chocolate, enough to fill 146 million Easter baskets each with a half-pound of chocolate.

What gave me a smile?
Wahoo, The Easter Beagle is here. Crazy Snoopy!

Yes, it does make me proud and happy. I’m not sure where she learned to be kind like that. Not from me. I suspect my wife. But still glad she learned it. Ha, ha. We joked that we’d come visit her this weekend if the Easter Bunny didn’t leave her a basket with lots of eggs. Ha, ha. Hope you have a great weekend Beth. Happy Easter.

Oh, that story about your daughter — so good! What a beautiful heart and perfect for the spirit of Easter.
And I’m still laughing about, “My mother and my wife have stopped loving me years ago by stopping giving me an Easter Basket come Easter Morning. ” Right. Life is hard — thank goodness you still find things to be grateful for!

Yes, yes, life is really hard! Ha, ha. Okay, I suppose I could go get my own candy. But geeesh, isn’t it horrible. No Easter bunny stopping to say hello. Ha, ha. I’m trying to surprise her with a basket this year. We’ll see if I pull it off. Ha, ha. Happy Easter!!

Ha, ha. I don’t know about relatable. I just know it’s fun writing my blog and seeing if others have the same crazy experiences. Memories of kids running wild at Easter Egg Hunts. Joking with their spouse about the Easter Bunny not bringing them any baskets. Ha, ha. Hope you have a wonderful Easter too Belladonna. Thanks for stopping by.

I loved that she understood the deeper meaning! Of course, I did leave out the part where I tried to steal a few eggs and she caught me. Ha ha

I love the story about your daughter, Brian. And chocolate bunnies, but especially, Sees for me is preferred over Peeps. I can’t even eat marshmallows anymore, knowing what they’re made of. And to think of all the s’mores we ate while camping when the kids were little. 🙂 Have a wonderful Easter with your family. 💜

Hmm chocolate. Yes, I’m with you on the Smores and the Peeps. I can maybe eat one Peep to remember what it felt like to be a kid, but I’m done after that. Ha, ha. Hope you have a wonderful Easter too. The Easter Bunny came to our house after a break of a few years. I’m suspicious though. My son was home for a short time on Saturday. I’m thinking the bunny thought he might still be here.I think I have to send him a letter reminding him that I’m still here. Ha, ha. Happy Easter.

Ours was very nice, and I hope yours was too. And you are too funny, Brian! We actually saw the Easter Bunny yesterday while out and about. I’ll share about it today, but I’m just now working on the post. Just woke up and enjoying coffee. ☕️

I swear all the easter bunnies and their squirrel friends are in digging in my yard. Ha. ha. There seem to be a lot of them running around. I’m not a big gardener, but it doesn’t bode well for whatever I do plant this spring/summer. Ha, ha.

I can relate, Brian. Gophers and moles killed a lot of plants and our grass in our backyard. We tried everything and couldn’t win the battle. It’s sad because we remember how beautiful it looked. So now we’re buying wine barrels and flowers! Not sure about the grass right now. It’s a blank canvass. 🙂

Oh, she’s a better person than me. I’m just trying to keep up with her. And yes, she didn’t learn that from me. Maybe her mother, but not me. Ha. ha, ha.

Meanwhile, my kids were the ones stealing eggs out of other’s baskets…
(I kid.)
I used to love those chocolate bunnies but always felt a little guilty after biting off the ears. Like I was committing murder or something. It really changed my perception about eating them.

My kind of joke Mark. Ha, ha. I hate a bunny today. Somehow the Easter Bunny made a stop at my house today and there were no kids. I kind of felt guilty, but I threw caution to the wind. Ate his ears, his bunny body and feet. Mmmmmm, good.
