A friend of mine was searching a few weeks ago for concert tickets for his daughter. He wasn’t having much luck finding reasonably priced ones. He has a young teenaged daughter so I assumed he was looking for tickets to one of Taylor Swift’s shows. Oh no, I couldn’t have been more wrong, or behind the times. He was looking to surprise her with Bruce Springsteen tickets.
Oh, silly me.
As I thought about the two different concerts — 70,000 screaming Swifties or 70,000 Bruce Tramps as they’re affectionately known — I kept thinking about a slew of pop culture battles that exist right now. You make the call:
–Taylor Swift or Bruce Springsteen.
–Actor Harrison Ford in Star Wars or Indiana Jones.
Star Wars is always going to win in my mind because it’s one of the best movies ever made, the series is a notch above, but I do love when Professor Jones takes umbrage and yells out that a certain relic “belongs in a museum.”
–Summer vacation trip to the Beach or Mountains.
–Movie Theater or Live Show.

—Ted Lasso or Yellowstone.
Which do you prefer Ted Lasso’s there’s a morale in every story or Yellowstone’s tough guys have the sweetest hearts? I’ll think I’ll choose Lasso’s syrupy stories simply because there’s so much anger and greed everywhere that sometimes you want to see the good guy win.
–London or Paris.
–Book or Tablet or Kindle.
I go back and forth, but in this day and age of technology, I still often times prefer a real book to highlight and jot notes down in. The hardback or paperback book lives to fight another day!
–Barbie, Oppenheimer, or Mission Impossible.
Barbie and Ken go Hollywood, a dramatic A-lister actor look at the development of the atomic bomb, or the Mission Impossible Team on another fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants case. Where’s an animated kid’s movie when you need one?
–Spotify or Apple Music.
–Movie Theater Popcorn or Candy.
Sweet buttery popcorn every time! Yes, I love American Candies: Twizzlers, M&M’s, Junior Mints, and Swedish Fish too, but there’s nothing like a big tub of popcorn.
–Adele or Beyonce.
–Laptop or Tablet or SmartPhone.
Yes, yes, I’m a dinosaur, but I still like writing on my laptop.

–Coke or Pepsi or Water.
Gen Alpha, Generation Z, and Millennials may be the future, but The Pepsi Generation still rocks. (Pepsi started advertising the Pepsi Generation in the 1960s and promoted “The Choice of A New Generation” with Michael Jackson in the mid-80s.)
–SpongeBob SquarePants or Homer Simpson.
I had to look it up the other day. The Simpsons are in their 34th year. Now there’s some staying power. Homer easily. D’oh.
–Cake or Ice Cream.
As I’ve already come out on this issue in past blogs, it’s always a good time for ice cream.
–Netflix or Amazon Prime or Disney + or Paramount or Peacock or Max or etc., etc.
Oh, the days when streaming was limited to a few choices. Now there are more choices than days in the week.
If only, all choices were like these.

We live in an era of endless choices! And I do love the idea of young people discovering icons like Springsteen although I’d love to check out the Taylor Swift concerts. It’s also hard to believe Han Solo and Indy are the same actor sometimes!

Yes, lots of choices. You’re so right about Solo and Indiana Jones. Crazy to think the same person. I’ll be interested in seeing some of the responses to the latest Indiana Jones movie.

Bruce Springsteen, I can tolerate much more of his music than Taylor Swift’s.
Indiana Jones, definitely.
Trip to the beach.
Movie theater.
I am not very familiar with Ted Lasso or Yellowstone.
Paris.
Book, every day of the week.
Mission Impossible.
Apple Music because I have an iPhone and a storage plan that bundles it along.
Popcorn.
Adele.
Smartphone. You can do almost everything that you can do on a laptop anymore.
Water.
Simpsons!
Cake and ice cream.
If I didn’t have kids, I’d throw the tv out the window. Since I do, I’d keep Disney+.

Oh, thanks for playing along Melissa. Love your responses. I do a lot on my smartphone, but I try to not do a lot of writing there. I’ll respond to comments, but even then I prefer my laptop since I tend to cut and paste something that has been written. Yes to the beach. Love it.

Maybe once the kids are a bit older I’ll use my laptop more again.

That’s an incredibly wide-ranging list Brian! Honestly there are many that I wouldn’t choose at all and others that might be situational. The one I can say for sure is WATER- no soda for me 🙂

Yes, it’s a hodgepodge list. Just things in the news. I’m trying to drink more water so that’s why I included that one.

Interesting post. It made me think of the multitudes of choices we make everyday. For me, it’s Ted Lasso, Paris, book, and Netflix. Oh, and water.

We do have a multitude of choices don’t we!!! I’ve never been to Paris, but maybe one day. It’s definitely on the bucket list. Ha, ha.

I watch Sponge Bob when there’s nothing else on! My family and I saw the new Indiana Jones movie just before I left Michigan a few days ago, I love it! Bruce was never a good singer in my opinion but he was apparently born in the USA…

Good to hear that you liked Indiana Jones. I haven’t heard much so far. My son said it was so-so, but I’m not sure he’s always a good judge of what . . . I will like. Ha, ha, and yes, I’m a mild Bruce fan, can take ’em or leave ’em, but I don’t think even the biggest fan would rate him high on his vocals. Ha, ha.

His vocals are raw and scratchy, not finely tuned if that makes sense. The only song he ever made that I like is Tunnel Of Love.

Wowza…so many choices, so little time! LOL! I’m with Deb – with conviction I’ll say ‘water’…but the rest are pretty slippery and dependent on mood, situation, the friends/family I’m with. I LOVED Harrison Ford in “Shrinking” and I think it was created/written in part by Ted Lasso’s Bret Goldstein (sp?) so I guess that gives a nod to “Lasso”. And are you kidding about movie theatre treats? After the limited opportunities to ‘go to the show’ over the last few years…popcorn OR candy? Why not both!? 🤣😘🤣

I’m trying to drink more water — giving up soda again — so yes, that’s my way of trying to generate some momentum. ha, ha. Oh that’s funny about Shrinking. I just watched that . . . I was surprised. I really, really liked it. I didn’t think I would, but thought it was well done. And yes, it was cool to see that Bret Goldstein had a part in its making. I love that when actors write, and writers act. Oh yes, I’m with you on both popcorn and movie candy. It really has been limited opportunities. I’m hopeful that that experience will return. Love being able to stream what I like, but I miss going to the movies.

Cheers to all of that – with water, of course! 😜

Great questions! Beach and Diet Coke. As for Ted Lasso and Yellowstone — I haven’t watched either. I wasn’t a fan of Indiana Jones or Star Wars, but I like Harrison Ford in other movies. Popcorn number one! As for another movie idea, Sound of Freedom was well worth it. It’s supposed to hit $100 million this week. I gave a suggestion to our group that helps trafficked women to see it as a group and we are tomorrow!

My favorite Harrison Ford movies actually are Fugitive and Witness. (Coming from Pennsylvania, I’m paid to say that Witness was one of my favorites. Lancaster County obviously plays a big part in it.) Cool about your suggestion to see sound of freedom. Sounds like it’s still doing well at the box office.

I thought Witness was great!

For the life of me, I can’t understand people working on their phones. That is just so ergonomically unhealthy.
Without sounding mean, can I ask everyone how their back is?
I prefer working on a laptop in my home office. Sometimes I’ll check emails when I’m out of my office or in the evening when I shut the computer down, but actually “work” on it — it’s a hard no for me.

I’ll reply to work emails, because there’s a sense of urgency. And I’ll respond to WordPress comments via the App, but I prefer to be at my laptop, because I often like to copy a quote or something that has touched me and that can be problematic via the phone. Saying all that, I know others who have no problems using their phones. My kids, grown adults, prefer the phone/tablets to working on a laptop. I guess, it’s what you’ve grown accustomed to using. Ha, ha, ha.

Brian, this is a hard task, because I have a hard time choosing. Can I go in the middle of the road maybe??? LOL 😂😝🤣 I suppose my choice will depend on my mood. I am a moody person! 😲 But don’t tell anyone that! LMBO! 😜 Good list of things to choose from though! 👍🏼

I’m right there with you Kym!!!! Why do you think I pawned off my list to my readers. Ha, ha, ha. Some are definitely too hard. How about this, we take the center lane. If we can’t do that, one time we’ll say movie theater, another time live event. Who will notice! 😜😜😜😜

LOL Brian, you are too funny, but you’re right…who will notice if we flip flop??? 😂😜😲😝🤣

I’m looking for your review of Oppenheimer LA. Seeing your name reminds me that I had a huge miss. I should’ve added a question or two about one or two book title choices!!! Ha ha, maybe next time.

Loved this Brian. I’m just catching up now … some I have no preference for but a book rather than a digital device. Sparkling water, always. But if I had to Coke rather than Pepsi. And sweet popcorn over sweets

Thank you Brenda. I was worried it was a little too US centric, I’m glad the questions made sense!!!😎😎
