We all have them. Those days when you’re boiling over with stress and tension. Some days you just need to laugh, to keep from yourself from crying. Another writer described it this way, “some days you just have to create your own sunshine.”
Here’s me creating my own sunshine:
–“When someone is mean to me, I just make them a victim in my next book.” —Mary Higgins Clark
–“Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?” —George Carlin
–“I’m not offended by blonde jokes because I know I’m not dumb. And I also know that I’m not blonde.” —Dolly Parton
–“Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It’s the transition that’s troublesome.” ―Isaac Asimov
–“There is no sunrise so beautiful that it is worth waking me up to see it.” ―Mindy Kaling
–“Death is nature’s way of saying, ‘Your table’s ready.’ ” —Robin Williams
–“Wearing a Hawaiian shirt, you don’t ever come across as offensive. Nobody sees you as a threat. You see someone in a Hawaiian shirt, and you are like ‘this guy is ready to party.’” —Gabriel Inglesias
–“If you don’t learn to laugh at trouble, you won’t have anything to laugh at when you’re old.” —Edgar Watson Howe
–“I think it’s wrong that only one company makes the game Monopoly.” —Steven Wright
–“A synonym is a word you use when you can’t spell the other one.” —Baltasar Gracián
–“”I believe in the institution of marriage, and I intend to keep trying until I get it right.” —Richard Pryor
–“The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.” —E E Cummings
–“A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don’t it.” —Bob Hope
–“If it sounds like writing, I rewrite it. Or, if proper usage gets in the way, it may have to go. I can’t allow what we learned in English composition to disrupt the sound and rhythm of the narrative.” —Elmore Leonard
–“I drink to make other people more interesting.” —Ernest Hemingway
–“I don’t really write jokes, I wait for stuff to happen in life, and then I tell it on stage.” —Kathleen Madigan
–“Behind every great man is a woman rolling her eyes.” —Jim Carrey
–“When I was a kid my parents moved around a lot, but I always found them.” —Rodney Dangerfield
–“If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito.” —Dalai Lama
–“Remember, today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.” —Dale Carnegie
Now isn’t that better!
So true. The power of laughter is immense but power over our aggressors by turning them into the most hilarious jokes is even more powerful and kind of a freeing experience.
