We had a chance to spend a few days with our son last week at Arches National Park in Utah and the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. I could write a lengthy, flowery post on the trip, but my words would never explain it better than the pictures themselves.
Beautiful, beautiful country.
Yes, go west, young man.
Arches National Park:

“Travel not to find yourself, but to remember who you’ve been all along.” —Unknown
“We must go beyond textbooks, go out into the bypaths and untrodden depths of the wilderness and travel and explore and tell the world the glories of our journey.” —John Hope Franklin

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” —St. Augustine
“With age, comes wisdom. With travel, comes understanding.” —Sandra Lake

“Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.” —Ibn Battuta
“The gladdest moment in human life, methinks, is a departure into unknown lands.” —Sir Richard Burton

“A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.” —Lao Tzu
“Live your life by a compass, not a clock.” —Erica Jong

“Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.” —Anthony Bourdain
“Not all those who wander are lost.” —J.R.R. Tolkien

Thank you Georgia! The difference in terrain from what I’m used to and see out my front door was amazing. It was great to see.

Beautiful pics, Brian. There’s no doubt that the natl parks in the U.S. west/southwest are indescribably spectacular. Everyone should have the opportunity to visit them, and there’s a long list.

Yes, they really are amazing to see. Nothing like what I see in the East. Something different around each curve in the road. Ha. ha.

I love Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, mainly because of so many great memories over the years, but Zion and Arches in Utah are neck and neck with it. So beautiful. And I feel like we’ve just scratched the surface. Thanks for reading.

I made it to Arches, among others. Zion’s on my list for next time. 🤞

We just drove through Zion. We didn’t have a ton of time 2 years ago. I really want to go back … the hikes look amazing.

BEAutiful pictures. I’ve been to the Grand canyon a couple times. I stay a couple days in the park. Love it. A friend of mine used to say the sky is blue… because of Pen State.

Oh yes, your friend is right. But I must admit it’s kind of a cult. It’s something in the water. It sucks you in!!!😎🤣🤣🤣🤣😎

Absolutely. Everyone I’ve met from Pen State have been special, just like a cult. ya had to know the secret handshake to get into that group.

Yes, well Arizona has its share of beautiful spots too. I’m always shocked by the grandeur. The openness.

It is gorgeous and driving up to Park City, Utah, we’ve seen the Grand Canyon and some of Utah’s beauty. But we need to stop to experience it.

It was warm, but not as warm as I expected. Ha, ha. It’s been warmer on the East coast lately and that threw me off. Ha, ha.

My parents spent a good deal of time tooling around the country in an RV. My mom wrote about in Heading South: Tales from the RV Trail. It was so interesting how diverse our country is. I want to do the same some day.

Sounds like fun! I have a friend who does some consulting on the side and lives out of an RV. They love it! 😊
