My About Me & Contact Page

About me: Thoughts, ideas and ramblings of a wannabe writer.

When I was young, I was small for my age and struggled to get my thoughts out. I’d stutter or stammer over the smallest things. Writing, now that was a different story. I could create new worlds or new endings to my favorite books.  I soon learned that I didn’t have to be the biggest kid in the class or the most talkative. I could use my creativity and my writing to get me through class or to make new friends.

Fortunately for me as I grew into my body and matured, my stutter soon disappeared. My love of writing, however, did not, sticking with me through the years.

I write now to communicate and touch my reader, and even more important, figure out exactly what I think about life. I write too to figure out how I feel about the many different hats and roles that I play in my life: husband, father, son, friend, coworker and a million other roles.

My writing tends to have a mind of its own. Since my youth, I’ve always known that I will one day write a book. I have a couple half-written novels and memoirs thrown in the back of a junk drawer. I’ll get around to finishing them one day.

In the meantime, however, I’ve started this blog to give me a chance to get my thoughts out into the blogosphere. Some of my blogs will be short. Others will be lengthier short stories or thought pieces that I’m looking for feedback.

I’m asked a lot by friends over the years to describe my writing. I’ve never really had a good response. I find that no one word or description really fits. In the end, all that matters is that I’m writing and I’m speaking up and letting my voice be heard.

Thank you for reading.

    1. I hope you enjoy. I’m not the best at marketing the blog, but I enjoy the creation side of things. I try to “open a vein” and write heartfelt about my thoughts and feelings and the things that I’m experiencing in my life. I generally post twice a week. In any event, thanks for reading and for the feedback. It’s much appreciated!

That is definitely my way too! I have no desire to market my blog; I believe those who are meant to read will, etc., etc. It’s about writing those things I’m inspired to write, without having an investment in the outcome – that would require more than I am willing to give.. 🙂
I’ve read a number of your writings and have enjoyed…

    1. Thanks so much for the wonderful feedback. I’m glad you enjoyed them. I try sometimes to promote my blog more on social media, but I never manage to keep it at it for long. It’s not why I’m writing. I do appreciate though the conversation and writing feedback like this one with other writers. Thanks for stopping by.

  2. This is a heartwarming entry, Brian, and it absolutely resonates. I, too, write to make sense of the maze that is my mind. Writing, apart from being my occupation, is also my therapy. I suppose it’s a form of mediation when I tune out of the noise of my environment and my overactive frontal lobe, and retreat to the chamber that is my creative studio from where I produce what I hope to be real, raw, and relatable content.

I truly hope you do get round to writing that book. A memoir, perhaps. The entry to your blog is captivating: conveying your childhood struggles immediately hooks the reader to relate, because we all have childhood memories that we recall – hopefully with fondness – as adults. Looking back, it connects the dots about why we still harbour certain customs and coping mechanisms – for you and me, it’s writing. As a child, I was regarded to be a “little weirdo” because I preferred to spend my free time huddled up with a book or my journal; I attempted my first childishlly naive ‘romance novel’ at the tender age of eleven. (Life, meanwhile, has cured me of the disillusion that is fairytale romance, thankfully).

Anyhow, I think you’re off to great start with this blog. Since appear to be in search of feedback, and trusting that I won’t overstep a boundary, I’ll send you a personal email shortly.

    Have a blessed weekend.

    Best regards

    1. Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts Chanté. I’ve been writing the blog off-and-on for the past nine years. I started it because I was moving up the proverbial corp ladder, but was writing less and less. You’re right, it really is a form of meditation for me. I’ve had a few posts last year on my previous novel attempt. I also wrote about my attempt in Nov to participate in last year’s NaNoWriMo. I’m in a good spot. I’ll be picking it back up later this month. I’ll get there eventually! It might not be on the original schedule I had in my mind, but I’ll get there. You hit on a key theme of my blog. I like the blog best when I’m connecting the dots of my youth and younger years. They’re some neat stories and they help me better deal and explain to myself major struggles and challenges that I had to overcome. Anyway, thank you for reading. Very much appreciated.

  3. I’m glad to have struck a chord, Brian. As promised, I’ve sent an email to the Gmail account listed on your page. If I can help you in any way, as simple gesture of paying it forward and supporting a cause I feel passionate about, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

    Have a wonderful weekend.

    1. Oh, you can be honest, you’re sick of my drivel and decided to unsubscribe. I see what you’re doing there. Ha, ha. I’m kidding. I’ve actually unsubscribed/resubscribed to several WP bloggers lately. I’ve done that because I sometimes feel like WP stops sending out notices that a writer I like has a new post. It’s probably me just missing their latest post, but WP can be a little wonky at times. No problems. Thanks for the laugh.
