A few thoughts on writing – Part II

I saw an interview a few years ago where Tom Hanks, the actor of Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump, Philadelphia, and many other movies, talked about his hobby of collecting vintage typewriters. He appreciates the craftsmanship and history behind them. His personal collection numbers about 250 machines.

I’m nothing like Hanks. No Academy Awards in my closet. Hanks has two, but we’re alike in odd collections. He collects typewriters, I collect quotes on writing.

I ran my first post on writing quotes last week in my post, A few thoughts on writing, here’s version number two.

    1. Love, love, love Nora Roberts quote. I’m always amazed when I don’t think I have much for a blog. I’ll start writing and then step away. I come back and start editing and I’m surprised with what the end result becomes. Need that first spark though. Need it on the page. Thanks for the idea for this post. I have one more set coming next Saturday.

      1. I love EB White! I can’t wait. It’s probably my PR background. Also watching my mother struggle through life when she couldn’t do anything until everything was perfect — like being 10 lbs thinner.

  6. These are all great! I giggled at Alexander Hamilton’s “hit you with a chair” one. I also have a moleskin notebook I have entitled “beautiful words” which I have filled with wonderful sentences from books I have read. One of these quotes starts out every blog post I write!
