Three, two, one — Swish!

I love college basketball because anything can happen. College basketball is big money now, for a variety of reasons, but I still love the unpredictability of the game.

I love it especially this time of year as March Madness prepares to get underway. Oh yes, the NCAA Division I men’s and women’s basketball tournaments get started this week. For those new to it, the men’s and women’s tournaments are single elimination tournaments, with 68 teams each competing for the for the right to be called national champion.

It’s a crazy time of year. You think you know what will happen and then out of nowhere, Cinderella who wasn’t even expecting to get an invite to the ball and dresses in rags compared to the Kardashian’s diamond studded gowns, dazzles on the dance floor and knocks off not one, but two bigger schools and makes a run for the championship. Who will wear Cinderella’s crown this year? You just never know.

In honor of this year’s tournaments, here’s a few quotes from four of the winningest coaches.

  1. Nothin’ like March Madness! We’re down to the Sweet Sixteen now, for the men and the women, so it’s getting good! Even though my alma mater, Baylor, has been eliminated in both genders. 😠

    1. I thought Baylor would go a little further. My alma mater, Penn State, got its first invite in years and actually represented themselves well. Still not a great basketball school, but getting better. Looking forward to seeing a few more upsets this weekend.

      1. Me, too. I wrote a post last March (“It’s MADNESS, I Tell You!”) that mentions an interesting bit of medical trivia related to this time of year. Check it out.
