When I was a kid, I was full of questions. I’m sure I was pretty annoying. My mother says I started at a young age and I’ve never really stopped being curious. You know the type of questions I’m talking about, why is the sky blue? Which came first the chicken or the egg?
I learned at an early age to be curious in a more tactful way, but it doesn’t mean I haven’t stopped asking them. Think a poor, poor man’s version of Steve Wright without the humor or satire. If you don’t know who Steven Wright is, look him up. In any event, here’s a few questions still rolling around in my head:
–Why doesn’t glue stick to the inside of the bottle?
–If animals could talk, who would be the smartest? Who would talk non-stop and drive you up a wall?
–Why do we dream? And why are we always falling, being chased, back in school, or moving in slow motion in our dreams?
–Who killed Jimmy Hoffa and where is he buried? Hoffa, the powerful labor leader with ties to organized crime, went missing in 1975 and remains one of the biggest mysteries in American history.
–When was the last time you’ve tried something new?
–Why is every dog named Bailey, Bella, Cooper, Daisy, and Buddy, but rarely are they named Joe, Jane, Michael, or Melody?
–Who shot JFK? Yea, I know Lee Harvey Oswald, but who else was involved?
–Why is Goofy considered a person and Pluto considered a pet when they’re both dogs?
–Will we ever find a cure for cancer?
–If God created Adam and Eve, did they have belly buttons?
–Will we one day live on the moon or another planet? If we do, I want a ride on the Lunar Rover, the battery-powered four-wheeled rover used on the moon as part of the Apollo program from 1971-72. And yes, I want a pair of fuzzy dice to hang on the mirror. Let’s get this buggy moving!
–When your local meteorologist gives his or weather report and says that it’s going to be “Partly Cloudy,” when does it stop being partly cloudy and start to become “Partly Sunny?
–Do fish get thirsty?
–Why do they call it chili went it’s hot?
–If a tree falls in the woods, does it make any noise? Yes, this is an old one, but I’m still waiting for an answer! Here’s a spinoff of this one, has a runner ever gone outside on a cold day for a 5 to 10 mile-run and not posted about it afterward on social media?
–Whatever happened to D.B. Cooper and his $200,000 in ransom money? A man identified as Dan “D.B.” Cooper hijacked a commercial plane in traveling from Portland, Oregon, to Seattle, Washington, and parachuted out of the aircraft with the ransom money in 1971. Cooper and the money was never found, resulting in one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in U.S history. Where’s the money?
And finally, in light of the big weekend coming up:
–Who will be the Most Valuable Player Super Bowl LV? The big bettors obviously are picking Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes or Tampa Bay Buccaneers Quarterback Tom Brady. Why no love for the doctors and medical staff who’ve kept the the players healthy and clear of positive Covid tests?
–How long will the National Anthem be? What will the first song to be performed by The Weeknd during the halftime show? Who will perform with The Weeknd? Can you say Drake and Ariana Grande? They seem to be the leading guess so far.
–How many penalties will be thrown in the game?
–And finally, who’s winning the big game: the Kansas City Chiefs or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?
